Money money money money

Financial aid is an important part of the application process, as Northwestern isn't exactly cheap to attend. It's an estimated $61,625 per year to attend this university!

Two important financial aid applications include the CSS profile and FAFSA, both of which are highly recommended to be filled out.

  • The CSS profile can be filled out through collegeboard.org, and it is recommended that you fill out this application as soon as possible, even before you submit your admissions application to the school.  The cost of this application is $25 for the first school you submit it for, and an additional $16 for each school after that.
  • FAFSA is a free financial aid application that can be filled out at fafsa.ed.gov.  The deadline for this application to be submitted is February 15th, but I recommend you fill it out as soon as it is available.  Make sure your parents check over your application before submitting it to guarantee that all of your information is correct.
These applications just qualify you for grants awarded to you from the school based on your financial-need.  There are also academic and sport scholarships that you can apply for via the Northwestern website.  I would also recommend looking into local scholarships offered to you by your community through your school.
